The Irony of Life

That time we were young
And the days were long
The nights were scary
And our fathers hardy
Then Christmases were far apart
And our gifts and us difficult to part
Rice and chicken was delicious
And our schools dangerous

Now we have beards
With right to legal beers
But also right to behind bars
Losing our right to be innocent
Now we work for every cent
The world that was magical
Now seems so surgical
Just so ironical
